Studying how we create ideas—and how we create ourselves.

BIO
Hi! I'm Blaine, a doctoral candidate in Management Science at the Columbia Business School. I study topics like creativity, self-presentation, artificial intelligence, and entrepreneurship alongside scholars like Sheena Iyengar, Adam Galinsky, and Sandra Matz.
My research has been featured in academic journals, conferences, and media outlets, including The Economist, The Wall Street Journal, Salon, Nautilus Magazine, and Fast Company Business News.
I have hands-on experience as co-founder and Chief Innovation Officer of the startup Think Bigger, exploring the practical side of creativity and innovation. Before business school, I spent over a decade as a performing artist, appearing on television shows like
30 Rock, Law & Order, One Life to Live, and more.
When not working, I’m a doting doggy dad, an avid sci-fi/fantasy reader, and—if you’re still reading this—someone who keeps picking up new instruments. I rotate between three at any given time. Ask me which ones, and you’ll instantly be my friend.
I hold a B.A. in Literature and the Liberal Arts from The New School and served as a Board Member of the 501(c)(3) GeeksOUT.
